Ingredients:
•1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
•2 tablespoons dry milk
•1 cup white flour
•1/3 cup corn meal
•1/2 cup oats
•1 teaspoon baking powder
•2 teaspoons cinnamon
•3 tablespoons vegetable oil
•1/2 cup canned pumpkin

When it comes to treats, our dogs are somewhat spoiled. These last few months have been especially great for them. We had the chance to attend two tradeshows and what came with that was an opportunity to bring home a bunch new (and I’m sure tasty) dog treats.

The one treat that they sniffed out first was the bag of Talk To Me Cheese Treats. These little bone shaped cheese treats are great for training. The dogs love the taste so as soon as they see me heading towards the bag, they start to follow me and will pretty much do any trick just to get one. However, just like with dog food, be sure to check the ingredients to make sure your dog isn’t allergic to any of them.

Another sample item we brought home was Dogswell’s Vitality Duck Breast. Needless to say, it didn’t last very long….they devoured it! We normally give them the chicken flavor but I’ll have to remember to start buying the duck as well.

We still have lots of sample treats to give them so we’ll be sure to keep you posted on our findings. As much as they would love for us to give them everything we brought back, we are taking it slow so they don’t get sick.

Well, it’s that time of year when all the furry children dress up like their favorite…..humans! This year the Chicago Area Shiba Inu Meetup is sponsoring a great event to benefit the Shiba Inu Rescue Association. This rescue currently has many adoptable dogs in foster homes, some of which are rescued breeding dogs and puppies (I hate puppy mills, don’t even get me started!). Since they are a relatively small organization, they are in desperate need of any and all help they can get. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the dogs that are currently fostered, and will allow the rescue to continue saving others.

This past weekend we attended the H.H. Backer Trade Show and one of the very first items I saw was Bissell’s pet grooming vacuum attachment called “Shed Away”. I have to say I was immediately drawn to it because with having to brush 3 dogs all the time, their hair goes everywhere and you end up having to pull out the vacuum and picking it up that way. It’s gotten to the point that I’ve actually been able to use the vacuum attachment directly on the dogs and they don’t seem to mind it, however, it only works if they have loose hair. Hence me being drawn to Shed Away…..it is basically a comb attached to the end of a vacuum attachment so it sucks up the hair as you’re combing your dog!! How fabulous is that!
