East Islip, Long Island: Heckscher State Park
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed on the beach, access in undeveloped areas only. Dogs are not permitted in camping, bathing and picnic areas, in buildings or on walkways.
Fire Island: Fire Island National Seashore
Dogs are permitted, but must be kept leashed and are not allowed in public buildings, on lifeguarded beaches or near areas closed for endangered species.
Montauk, Long Island: Hither Hills State Park
Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are allowed in the park, access in certain areas of the park only: north of Montauk Parkway, East of Napeague Harbor and west of overlook parking. Dogs are not permitted in the camping, bathing and picnic areas, in buildings or on walkways.

Dogs are allowed on Ocean and Bay Beach Areas within 150 feet of an Access Road regulated as “Parking-by-Permit Only” area at all times except between July 1st through Labor Day when they are allowed only before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
